The name "THE 78 BOULEVARD" played an ace card in the city by bringing some true urban vibes. It is a multi cuisine cafe with an amazing rustic interior. I would like to freeze some words describing the inner vibes of the place- rugged walls, unsymmetrical furniture, vintage accessories, country music & a true acoustic environment that has started a culture of stand up acts with open mic nights.

So, last week I attended a food meet in association with INDORE BLOGGERS ASSOCIATION & INDORI ZAYKA with other fellow bloggers at "The 78 Boulevard Cafe".

They created a special menu for all of us which looked pretty interesting. So let us start with the food ride.

The Hello Drink- Sex On The Beach (VIRGIN)

I arrived little late for the meet but was greeted with this beautiful glass on my table. It looked so refreshing that I couldn't wait and smashed it for my first sip (if you are wondering about the little wipe out of salt from the rim) :p.

It took me few minutes to recognize the ingredients of the drink because of the garnished salt. It was a mixture orange, cranberry & peach syrup & yup, it tasted really well.

SOUP- CREAM OF PEAS

I was little skeptical about this soup when I read its name, as its main content (PEAS) was a surprise. The moment, the soup's tray was kept on the table, 50% of me was already in love with it. The other 50% was uncertain until I tasted this beauty, I had "Love in the first sip". This vibrantly colored soup had an amazing creamy taste that went really with the peas. The bread sticks couldn't have tasted better to me.

SALAD

CAPRESE SALAD (ITALIAN)

This was a treat to my eyes as it appeared completely different from the perceived definition of a salad. This serving was nicely made up with alternate slices of tomatoes & mozzarella cheese, placed in a rows. The Chef topped these slices with pours of honey balsamic dressing & chopped basil leaves. Honestly, it looked really amazing to my eyes but did not really work for me as I am not a cheese person. All those, who loves cheese, you should try this salad.

FATTOUSH SALAD (MEDITARRENEAN)

This was something that really worked for me, a salad that I look forward to every time. What a beauty it was & how incredible it tasted!

All the colors were visible in this serving & these colors be so healthy for all. It was a perfect combination of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red & green pepper, radish, parsley. The after taste of lemon, garlic & oregano dressing drifted me on a delicious ride.

STARTER

DIMSUMS (CHINESE)

There is nothing much to write about this dish except the colorful chemistry it had inside the steamer basket. The taste of the dimsum was usual & authentic, tasted better with side dips. Dimsums, here, will never fail you.

THAI SPRING ROLLS (THAI)

I am a big Spring Roll's fan, I can literally hound over plates for the same. But this plate did not do that well for me, I loved the stuffing and Thai flavored covering, but what hit my throat was the Thai sweet chilli sauce. I do not have buds for spicy & sour ingredients, and if this had desired amount of all, I wouldn't have taken a second to term it as my most favorite dish.

EMPANADAS (SPANISH)

Looking at this dish, we all bloggers snapped together & referred it as "Namkeen Gujiya". The expectations that I had for spring rolls were fulfilled by this beauty. This was something I tried for the very first time & I loved it. This Spanish treat is a beautiful baked pastry filled with potatoes, corns, onions, garlic & mozzarella cheese served with sweet chilli sauce.

I always try to plan the amount of food I am going to feed my stomach, but this dish broke my entire scheme as I ate so many pieces of it.

PLATTERS

CHEESE FONDUE PLATTER

All the cheese lovers, this can be a heaven for you. It looks beautiful & it tastes beautiful. I really love the entire concept of the dish & the way Chef played with cheese & other accompaniments. This tempting dish includes a fondue pot filled with combination of 3 different melted cheese. The beauty of this platter is the side servings which brings out the best of melted cheese. Side servings are assorted grilled veggies (my favorite), bread croutons, potato wedges, garlic bread & bread sticks.

I waited for everyone to take pictures of this amazing platter so that I could sit & pose myself with it. Strongly recommendation from not so Foodie person.

TANDOORI PLATTER

Here I am writing about one of the most common tandoori platter, which I assume everyone has tried on once. The usual tandoori platter had paneer, seekh kabab, stuffed spicy potato, broccoli & mushrooms, all grilled to finery. I am not a tandoor lover but I really loved the authentic taste of potato & broccoli. The green chutney served along, enhanced the entire taste.

NANZA

Nanza, derived from the combination of words "Pizza" & "Naan", is one dish that I first ever tasted at this cafe only. By this I mean that I did taste this dish on my previous visit & honestly I was not a big fan but truly loved the concept.

They have varieties of Nanza and we were served "Pesto Pizza With Balsamic Glaze".

I was really impressed with the combination of ingredients which were, mozzarella cheese, roasted tomatoes, salad greens, toasted nuts, house style basil pesto sauce as base, and balsamic glaze. What really worked for me in this dish was the mixture of glaze with toasted nuts. Although, I found the crust little dry, but this is a dish worth trying.

MAINS

RATATOUILLE (FRENCH)

This long loved French dish has a beautiful arrangement of colorful veggies, resting over seasoned white rice, with a touch of herbs infused tomato sauce. At first, I just tasted the rice and felt no trace of French into it, until the entry of veggies happened. I must say, the vegetables were prepared so well that I cared nothing about the rice. For me, the dish tasted the best with veggies & rice together as little focus on rice is needed to get the French authenticity.

STROGANNOF (RUSSIAN)

Consomme, a clear soup made with concentrated stock, had all the English vegetables cooked into it and gave birth to this super delicious dish. I am a huge mushroom lover, and this dish was a true blessing to me. I love the way how vegetables were slowly cooked and served with sour creme, mustard accompanied by a choice of rice bed or pasta. The white sauce with mushrooms spreaded all the delicious magic in my mouth.

KHOW SUEY (BURMESE)

I could not wait to lay my hands over this incredible dish. I love Khow Suey, and never miss a chance to have it wherever possible. Here, Khow Suey looked extremely beautiful I missed some elements in it. I loved the way it was presented, all the dressings placed in respective places, and beautiful colors.

HYDERABADI VEGETABLE DUM BIRYANI

I love the multi cuisine concept because that led to have this super delicious Biryani.

AUTHENTIC!!!!

I could only speak this one word post tasting a spoon of this beauty. I loved the saffron flavor that came with the basmati rice, the spices, vegetables and other authentic herbs. I really did not believe that this urban cafe would serve such a delicious Dum Biryani. It was cooked till perfection in the dum pot and tasted very delicious.

DESSERT

GULAB JAMUN LEMON CHEESE CAKE

It took me little longer to extract the meaning out of this serving. This is definitely a good strange combination of lemon, cheesecake & gulab jamun. I was little skeptical about this dish as I am not a gulab jamun fan but the presence of cheese cake made me taste it. It was quite buttery when I had the first bite and it lasted for a little while on my tongue. It is definitely something you should try on because of its ingredients and its presentation. The crust of the cheese cake was love and it was playing well with the tinge of lemon.

DESSERT PLATTER

CHOCOLATE FONDUE WITH ASSORTED DIPPERS

I am a huge chocolate fondue platter fan and had the best in New York's Max Brenner. I have real high standards when it comes to this kind of platters. The second best platter I tried was Haagen Dazs, and was really sad with the fact that we do not get this in the city, until now. I restrained myself from jumping when I heard about this platter and trust me I was more than satisfied.

So we had pineapples, kiwi, banana, walnut brownie bites, waffle sticks & different mini ice cream balls. The smooth melting dark chocolate & cream tasted delicious with all the dippers, but kiwi became my favorite out of all. Order this delicious beauty, and trust me you will have the sweetest climax.

I really want to thank Miss Anushree Jain, for inviting us to this great place and let us taste the special delicious menu. She is a generous woman who introduced us to this place more closely and told us some amazing things that they pull out for their customers.

This is a cafe which has opened a tab for stand up shows, gigs, open mic nights, letting all the fresh talents of the city project themselves. The aura they bind is truly splendid with some amazingly delicious food. For all the alcohol lovers, this cafe open window for hard drinks on the weekends but on the rest of the days, it makes you high on its music, food & rustic vibes.

You should check on their pages for all the latest events and fests, they are worth attending.

XOXO..
