I do not think I need to put much efforts in this particular write-up as it is about a dish which has managed to bound me and the entire Nation as its fans.

Really excited to talk about a restaurant in the city which has come up with a new section exclusively serving Dal Bafla Thali. "Vrindavan" restaurant, in Vijay Nagar, will be soon opening a new area completely dedicated for this delicious treat.

A bloggers meet, in the name of DAL BAFLA MEET, was organised by INDORI ZAYKA with INDORE BLOGGERS ASSOCIATION at VRINDAVAN.

Dal-Bafla Thali, at Vrindavan, will be served every weekend i.e. Saturday

& Sunday from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Few years back, to get a real Rajasthani feel in central India, we had to go to the outskirts of the city and cherish those delicious Dal-Bafla and the Rajasthani Thali but no more now. There are several places in Indore which are serving delicious Dal-Bafla but lacks the authenticity in the place.

The thing which is really interesting about this place, other than Thali, is the cultural ambiance depicted beautifully in its seating set-up as well as on the walls. Our eyes were treated with a rustic arrangement i.e. typical Indian sitting arrangement with mats on the floor and low height tables (also known as chokhi). They have put in lot of colors on their walls in the form of huge Lord Krishna's paintings, all this gives a true and authentic Indian feel. The people serving here were dressed in the traditional attires in beautiful bright colors.

Now, lets speak about the rich Rajasthani Thali, which was again made of heavy metal to give that Indian feel. The Thali had raw chopped salad, mint chutney, garlic chutney, keri pana (as a refresher), dahi-kadi, besan gatte, churma laddu and of course Dal-Bafla.

I started with Keri pana which was indeed refreshing and one my favorites when it comes to summer coolers. But the only odd thing I found in the drink was the amount of spiciness, which I felt was little much for me. The salad, was nothing new but was exactly in the style that works well with this dish. The dahi-kadi was really delicious, it tasted too tangy + sweet and equally authentic with the rice, which was served later. I was drooling over both the chutnis which were served, specially the lahsun chutney (garlic) because I was never served this chutney with Dal-Bafla. Coming to besan gatte, well I normally do not get the concept of this curry being served in this treat, but somehow I manage to include it in my eating session. This tasted really spicy, I could feel the right amount of spices blended well in its gravy. Now comes the Dal-Bafla, the bafla was perfectly cooked and it was not at all hard. It looked really hard and crispy outside, which is how it is suppose to look, but it was really soft inside and tasted delicious. I could eat it even without dal. Dal, again was carrying the authentic taste and was perfectly cooked with the essential Indian herbs. A tinch of ghee over the mix of Dal-Bafla was like Cherry-on-top for me.

Churma Laddu somehow did not grab all my positive points because the moment I touched it, it broke because of its coarse texture and also I encountered small lumps of powdered sugar in my month. I feel the sweet had an authentic taste but needs little of preparation amendments.

Overall my stomach was truly blessed to taste such an authentic food thali. For me, Dal-Bafla is an occasional dish, when I am extremely happy I plan on treating myself with this dish. The good part is, we need not to go really far from the city for an authentic Indian food spree, we will be served the authenticity soon at Vrindavan restaurant.
